(More customer reviews)I do NOT recommend re-gapping an Iridium spark plug as you will likely damage the core without even realizing it (meaning they will still run, just not to their optimum potential). This is straight from NGK themselves, as they say in their literature it would be better to run one of their Iridium plugs at the incorrect gap than it would be for you to re-gap them and run them there.
If you want an Iridium plug at a certain heat range, look around. For instance, Denso makes an Iridium plugs at step colder heat range for Mazdaspeed's that come with the correct gap (.26 to .30) out of the box, but their stock heat range Iridium plug for the same car does not have the proper gap (.60).
Whereas NGK sells a stock heat range Laser Iridium plug for this same car with the proper gap, but their step colder Iridium IX's do not have the proper gap (.60).
So if you want stock heat range or step 1 or 2 colder, you may need to chose a different plug manufacturer to get the proper gap out of the box, which is very important.
